MOFF Exam Tips

Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, refers to a group of regions that runs standardized examinations for young students in grades three to eleven. The PARCC exams are used for the assessment of the candidates to determine their college and career inclination and readiness. The exam results of PARCC are designed to help schools, districts, and teachers track the performance of their students. The results can also help tutors tailor their teaching and instructions for those applicants who may require additional help with their academics. The PARCC program is a comparatively new concept, so it is normal for the students and their parents to have many questions about what the test is all about.

The PARCC test includes two important subjects such as English Language Arts & Literacy and Mathematics. Moreover, there are two comprehensive exam areas, or so called components, that are as follows:

  • Performance Based Assessment (completion of around 75% of the academic year): This area contains English Language Art & Literacy. The test is intended for Grade 3 to 11. Each of the components from this area will take 5 various sessions: three – English Language Art & Literacy and two – Mathematics.
  • End of Year Assessment (completion of around 90% of the academic year): This area covers English Language Arts & Literacy for Grade 3 to 11. It also includes Maths for Grade 3 to 8. Each of the components from this area will call for 4 various sessions: two – English Language Art/Literacy and two – Mathematics.

The PARCC tests is basically subdivided into four levels: Speaking and Listening, Diagnostics, End of Year Assessment, and Performance Based Assessment, which are taken at different periods within the year.

Also, the PARCC tests are not designed to function as admission exams like ACT or SAT. They are state examinations and are meant to measure the progress and competency of the students, majorly at the aggregate level. The implication of this is that there is no major end point in view; and therefore, there is no need to go through special training course to pass the test. This means that the exam preparation platforms are less encouraged to collate unofficial practice materials or any other resource tools.
